MONTRAIL JOHNSON NAMED GLVC WRESTLER OF THE WEEK INDIANAPOLIS- Montrail Johnson of the #6 Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Wrestler of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon. Johnson, currently ranked #7 at 184 in the NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, went 3-0 for the host Rangers at last weekend’s Ranger Duals. Johnson opened the day with a pain in 3:48 of Tiffin’s Jacob Carrisales. He then took a pair of decisions, outscoring his opponents from St. Cloud State and Findlay 20-7 en route to the two wins. This is the first career GLVC Wrestler of the Week accolade for Johnson. It is the second of the season for the Rangers, as 174-pounder Nick Becker was honored Dec. 21, 2015. It’s all dual action on the schedule for the five GLVC wrestling schools this weekend. Truman State and #19 McKendree will both be in dual action Thursday, with the Bulldogs heading to Graceland University, while the Bearcats will host Central Missouri. Friday night, the #6 Rangers host UW-Stevens Point, while #18 UIndy will host #14 Findlay and #3 Maryville will be at Central Oklahoma. The Great Lakes Valley Conference Wrestler of the Week is chosen through a nomination by and vote of the coaches of the five GLVC wrestling schools.
