LIFE GROUP GUIDE

CHRIST CENTRAL CHURCH

FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 8
“Hannah Prays” (1 Samuel 1:1-28) - Joe Crummey

STUDY QUESTIONS. 1. Since it’s probably your first time meeting in a few weeks, this would be a great week to catch up, find out how everyone’s break was, and discuss what the next few weeks will look like for your Life Group (All Together OUT Feb 2, Network Course Feb 8-23, All Together IN March 1) as well as many goals your group might have in 2017.
 2. Was there anything that stood out to you on Sunday as interesting, impactful, or difficult to understand? During worship (the word Gary brought about anger) or from Shanie’s story?
 3. Hannah prayed honestly, it was real and messy (v.10). Often our prayers to God look very different from how we would talk to a close friend about the same situation. Should they? In what ways should our prayers be the same? In what ways should they be different?
 4. Hannah’s prayer was risky. By asking God for a child, she opened herself up for disappointment. If you never ask, you are never disappointed. How can we overcome this fear of disappointment and pray “risky” prayers?
 5. We see in verse 18 that Hannah was feeling better after praying, even though she had yet to receive an answer. In what ways does prayer give us peace, even before the situation we are praying for has been resolved?
