January 2016 Communication Dear Class of 2016 Parents:
January 26, 2016
The month of February marks the traditional start of events that lead up to Commencement. The much-‐‑anticipated countdown to Commencement begins with the 100 Days Dinner on February 29 when the senior class and selected faculty will travel to Mill Falls in Meredith. A formal occasion, the 100 Days Dinner will allow seniors a chance to take time out from the normal, hectic Tilton pace and listen to student-‐‑elected speakers Ryan Freker and Gabby Hunter provide reflections on their time at Tilton, as well as hear from 2015 graduate Nathan Terry. The dinner will give our seniors the opportunity to talk about the upcoming three months. In anticipation of the final months of the year, I want to provide you with some basic information about end-‐‑of-‐‑year activities so you can make appropriate plans. Our seniors will finish their last academic and athletic commitments on Tuesday, May 24. All seniors will participate in the annual Senior Class Trip, which takes them off campus from Wednesday, May 25 through Friday, morning, May 27. On Friday evening, May 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., we will host a Senior Dinner to which all seniors and their parents or guests (maximum two guests per student, per household) are invited. Following the conclusion of dinner, the Baccalaureate Service will be held at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the Fred Andrew Smart Chapel. All Tilton School will hold its 171st Commencement on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Commencement is typically held outdoors on the Quad in front of Pfeiffer Dormitory, and a luncheon immediately follows the ceremony. Commencement is open to all guests, even if it is held indoors (the MARC gymnasium). Enclosed in this envelope you will find four complimentary Commencement announcements. A limited number of additional Commencement announcements are available on a first come, first serve basis. Please contact Ally Goddard at
[email protected] or 603.286.1743 if you would like to request more. On the back of this letter you will find a schedule of events. Enclosed for your convenience is a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding the seniors’ end-‐‑of-‐‑year activities and Commencement day details, along with a list of local hotels and restaurants. In mid-‐‑March you will receive an email with additional detailed information about end-‐‑of-‐‑year activities from Director of Engagement & Events Ally Goddard. Please be aware that a $260 charge for all Commencement week activities was made to each seniors’ RAM account this fall. It is a thrilling time here on campus as we enter the final months of senior year, but it can also be stressful for you and your senior. Please expect a great deal of emotion as we approach Commencement and never hesitate to reach out to your senior's advisor if you have concerns. Should you have any questions about our end of year activities, please contact Ally Goddard or me with any questions. We look forward to seeing you in May! Sincerely,
Peter C. Saliba, P’17, ’19, ‘19 Head of School
