HAPPY NEW YEAR MEN‘S CONFERENCE It is not too late to sign up for the Johnny Hunt Men’s Conference Feb 2nd-3rd. WOMEN‘S CONFERENCE We will be live streaming a Women’s Conference here at the church Friday night, Feb 9th from 7pm—10pm and Saturday., Feb 10th from 10am—6pm. Registration is $20/person. Please see Janet Porter with any questions. All women are invited to participate.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS Thanks to each and every one of you! So many gave generously and prayed for Kids Bible Clubs! We had a great turn out on December 5th, despite the rainy weather. The HBJ celebration was an absolute success because we got the MAIN THING right! We had well over 40 decisions for Christ (YES!) and the Lord was honored with His Name loudly proclaimed! Thanks again for your support and generosity --- because God gave, we can give! Bess Clements

From Sunday morning to Wednesday night, our volunteers in the children’s department have been working hard to teach our kids how to live a life dedicated to glorifying God! I want to thank each person who has given of their time and energy to love on our families who are here Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights for AWANA. I am so grateful for those faithful volunteers who choose to serve every week to ensure that our kids know how much Jesus loves them. I also want to encourage our volunteers to keep serving. Our families and their children appreciate your dedication and help in raising kids who have a strong foundation in the Lord. Thank

January 2018 LIFE LINE SCREENING FEBRUARY 21st Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, will offer affordable, non-invasive and painless health screenings at Sandy Plains Baptist Church on 2/21/2018. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: •
blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke
•
abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta
•
hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease
•
atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk
•
bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis.
Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. WORSHIP PASTOR CANDIDATE Our Worship Pastor Search Committee will be hosting a candidate for Worship Pastor. Please note the following dates and times: Saturday January 20th – 2:00 to 3:00 pm – Time for all church members to meet the candidate and his family
Saturday January 20th 3:00 to 4:30 pm – The candidate will lead choir practice Sunday January 21st 11:00 am– The candidate will lead our worship service. A vote by church members to follow.
AWANA, Fellowship Meals and Choir Rehearsals will Resume January 10th

Young in Heart will sponsor an AARP Defensive Driving Course on March 8th in the Fellowship Hall. It is a six hour course beginning at 9:00 with a thirty minute lunch break. There is a sign up form at the Welcome Desk.

January 2018 Our Small Groups begin a new session on Thursday, January 11th at 6:30pm. We encourage all members to participate in one of our groups. Our women will engage in a study by Jennie Allen entitled, "Proven" and will be lead by Caroline Singletary. This study focuses on the Book of John and will help us believe and know that Jesus is enough. The ladies will meet at the Coffee Corner. Our men will engage in a study by Johnny Hunt entitled “Demolishing Strongholds.” This study will help men to become men of God as they have to deal with their day-to-day trials and temptations.
