The way we continually talk about our own inabilities is an insult to our Creator. To complain over our incompetence is to accuse God falsely of having overlooked us. Get into the habit of examining from God’s perspective those things that sound so humble to men. You will be amazed at how unbelievably inappropriate and disrespectful they are to Him. We say things such as, “Oh, I shouldn’t claim to be sanctified; I’m not a saint.” But to say that before God means, “No, Lord, it is impossible for You to save and sanctify me; there are opportunities I have not had and so many imperfections in my brain and body; no, Lord, it isn’t possible.” That may sound wonderfully humble to others, but before God it is an attitude of defiance. Conversely, the things that sound humble before God may sound exactly the

opposite to people. To say, “Thank God, I know I am saved and sanctified,” is in God’s eyes the purest expression of humility. It means you have so completely surrendered yourself to God that you know He is true. Never worry about whether what you say sounds humble before others or not. But always be humble before God, and allow Him to be your all in all. There is only one relationship that really matters, and that is your personal relationship to your personal Redeemer and Lord. If you maintain that all costs, letting everything else go, God will fulfill His purpose through your life. One individual life may be of priceless value to God’s purposes, and yours may be that life. Oswald Chambers My Utmost For His Highest

As we start the new year, I want to say how blessed I am to be here at DWMBC. I want to thank the church family for their love and support. What a blessing it is to work with the choir and the band. But most of all I thank the Lord for all He is doing and will continue to do. There is

lifewefor one’s friends. In the new year let’s remember these verses and trust the Lord through allone’s the trials face. Let’s not lose sight of the faith He has given us. We can trust Jesus! He has proven again and again. He is worthy of our trust and so much 15:13 NLT more. “Count it all joy”, sometimes that is hard to do. Keep in perspective of how big God is, if onlyJohn He had our gaze, and how small our troubles are. We don’t like the process that makes us more like Christ because it involves pain, sorrow and stress. James reminds us not to try and wiggle out of the hard times too soon. If we do, we will hinder the process and remain babes in Christ. Pray this way. Lord, help me take my eyes off myself, my trials and my problems, not fix my eyes on what is seen but what you are doing in my life so that I can mature in my faith. Happy New Year! Brothers and sisters,

Ladies Bible Study

This year has flown by in a flash. We have had graduation, VBS, summer camp, concerts, baptisms, salvations, F.C.A., banquets, parades, performances, tests, and a myriad of other activities. We even adopted a child from Compassion International names Brayhan. We call him Gabriel because of his middle name. We need to raise $38 a month to support him and so far the students have raised more than what we have needed. To be exact, we have raised $93.64. The Jar is placed in front of the stage in the youth room. Every Sunday the students place coins and bills in the jar. It is encouraging to see students giving money to the less fortunate. God is really using this group of students in a mighty way. We hope to continue to raise enough to adopt a girl from Compassion International as well. We are excited for the New Year! Can’t wait to see what the year brings for God and his Glory. I will be out of the country for a little over a week starting December 27th. My parents live in England and this is going to be a wonderful opportunity to visit them and travel for a little while. Continue to pray for the students and Trinity County. These kids are so strong for their age and I pray they continue to strengthen over the break.

From the Pastor Search Committee:

O

n Sunday, January 8th, Beau Bevers will be preaching at both of the morning services. At 6:00 PM, during the evening services the entire Pastor Search Committee will share information about the minister that they are presenting to the church in view of a call. His name or where he is from will not be given until a later date. It is very important that a minister has the opportunity to share any changes in his ministry with the church he is now serving. On Saturday, January 14th the Pastoral Candidate will be here. In the morning he along with his wife will meet with the committee and staff members and their spouses. At 2:00 PM everyone is invited to attend and informal fellowship in the Family Life Center. You will be informed of his name and where he currently lives. Getting to know his family will be exciting. Be sure to come! On Sunday, January 15th the Pastoral Candidate will preach in view of a call at the 11:00 AM service only. At the end of the service, he and his family will leave the sanctuary while members vote to call him or not as our new Pastor. After the count is complete, the candidate and his family will return to the sanctuary for the results. May God continue to bless our church in a beautiful way. We have experienced growth over the last several months and our church has remained strong throughout this process! The next few weeks will be full of excitement! Please continue to pray for the candidate and the Pastor Search Committee.
