GSC Men’s Basketball Weekly Release

AROUND THE GSC This weekend, all GSC teams will surpass the halfway point of the conference season, as we are now just over a month away from the Gulf South Tournament. Valdosta State has now run its winning streak up to seven games and sits atop the GSC standings. UAH, now #19 in the national poll, is even with the Blazers in the loss column, but has one less win. UAH won the first head-to-head matchup this season, and the two teams will square off again on February 16. The Blazers currently boast the top scoring offense in the league, and a Top 20 offense nationally. VSU has five players who average at least 12.0 points per game and five of the top 26 scorers in the conference. UAH ranks in the top five of both scoring offense and scoring defenese in the GSC. Shorter’s Phil Taylor remains the country’s leading scorer, averaging 34.9 points per game.
