25 January 2016 Dear Parent(s), Carer(s), Welcome Back! A belated ‘Happy New Year!’ from everyone at the school. It has been great to see the children back after the Christmas break so keen to learn and behaving so well. Dates Thursday 28 January – Valley CIDS assembly Friday 29 January – 4D Class assembly Friday 5 February – Peppa Pig assembly – Foundation Friday 12 February – School closed INSET day (Assessment in the new curriculum) Monday 22 February – School re-opens at 8.55 Tuesday 23 February – Yr5/6 to Sherwood Pines Wednesday 24 February – Yr3/4 to Sherwood Pines Wednesday 24 February – Yr 6 parents meeting for SAT’s Thursday 25 February – Valley CIDS assembly Friday 26 February – Cycle training starts (Information to follow) Wednesday 2 March – Class photographs Friday 4 March – 4TM Class assembly W/B Monday 7 March – Parents evenings and Book fair. Friday 18 March – 6N Class assembly Friday 25 March – Bank Holiday Monday 28 March – Bank Holiday Friday 1 April – School closes for Easter at 3.30 Monday 18 April – School re-opens at 8.55 for Summer term Green Fingers? Have you (or do you know anyone who has) got green fingers and would be happy to help out Mrs Davies and the Eco Club? They are looking for a couple of volunteers to help them plant and grow some crops over the next few weeks. Please see Mrs Davies for more details. Reading and learning times tables A quick reminder that 10 minutes reading at night with your child(ren) will really help them to develop their skills in this important area. Also our Key Stage 2 children are having a weekly times tables test on a Friday morning so any help or practice you can give them will be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Attendance Unfortunately I received a warning notice from the Local Authority regarding our attendance last term as it fell below 95%. I understand that children get poorly and also require 48hrs to recover from sickness bugs. However, there are a number of families who have taken holidays during term time recently and this has undoubtedly led to a decrease in the attendance rate. Some children also have the ‘odd day’ here and there when perhaps they ought to be in school. These ‘odd days’ obviously add up! Uniform We will soon be selling school jumpers and cardigans from the school office as well as keeping our existing arrangement with Tesco online. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to purchase items containing the school logo. Please get in touch should you have any questions regarding your child’s education.
