JOB DESCRIPTION Business Analyst BRENTWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH Department: Accounting Reports to: Executive Director of Central Support Job Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Exempt Effective Date: Primary Officing Campus: Brentwood Campus SUMMARY The Business Analyst shall be responsible to the church, under the direction of the Executive Director of Central Support, for long-range forecasting, budget development, management of reserves and statistical reporting. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following: • • • • •

Develop and maintain reports that will allow tracking of various reserves such as the MTI, Strategic and Capital reserves and will allow future forecasting of reserve balances. Perform a monthly analytical review of the financial statements for errors or irregularities. Develop and maintain meaningful statistical reports such as dashboards and scorecards. Assist the Senior Executive Pastor and Executive Director of Central Support as needed in the development and implementation of the general operating budget. Provide supporting information for the budget brochure and presentations to the Finance Ministry team, Trustees and the Congregation. Maintain a program of spiritual and professional self-development.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following: • • • • • •

Determine the financial processes and controls in place for potential merger churches. Assist the Executive Director of Central Support in the preparation of any merger entries. Prepare the capitalization entry for asset purchases made during the year through operating funds. Work with the church’s independent auditors in the preparation and completion of the annual audit of our financial records. Work with teams, as assigned, on new initiatives the church may be pursuing to ensure financial issues and concerns are addressed. Remain abreast of changes in user and system software and hardware requirements. Periodically reviews other church management software to ensure the church is utilizing the best software for our management and accounting needs. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor. 1

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • • •

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university with major in accounting, business or finance. Advanced degree or certification helpful. Five to seven years direct experience in accounting environment, three of which are at the supervisory level. Audit experience is helpful, but not required.
