TOWSON UNIVERSITY SPORTS MEDICINE EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN – JOHNNY UNITAS STADIUM (PRACTICE) Emergency Personnel: - Certified athletic trainer and athletic training students on site for practices and games Emergency Communication: - Certified athletic trainer carries cell phone in case of emergency Emergency Equipment: - The following equipment will be available on the home sideline in case of an emergency: o Emergency medical kit, vacuum splints, emergency crash bag, AED o Insurance information located in medical kit Roles of Emergency Personnel: - Immediate care of the injured athlete o Certified athletic trainers and athletic training student will approach athlete, assess injury situation and begin care - Emergency equipment retrieval o Certified athletic trainer or coach will retrieve appropriate equipment - Activation of emergency medical system o Certified athletic trainer will activate EMS by calling 9‐1‐1 o Certified athletic trainer will notify Campus Police at 410‐704‐4444 - Direction of EMS to scene o EMS will access the field through gate on the northwest gate of stadium o Coach limits scene to first aid providers and moves bystanders away from area
