Dear Everyone: On Sunday March 19 I turned 53. Yikes! I can still get out and play soccer and basketball with guys half my age, but the joints really hurt, especially on the left knee. I have to take a muscle relaxer before I play. Don't know if I am doing more damage to it by continue to compete or not, but time will tell! 😲 We continue to go backward on our calendar to try to make up for some news that has never been reported to you due to neglect on our part and for the lack of space on our normal prayer letter format. So, here are just a "few" pictures of our New Year's Eve service:

Our New Years' service was not very well attended. Marcelo on the left claims to be a believer but I would call him a relatively faithful attender. His son Mykon beside him is not saved, but his wife Claudia next to Mykon is a believer. Marcelo won't give up the drinking and we know he was a womanizer, but not sure if he continues down that path or not. We hope not. He is not a member so it is not like we can discipline him, but we do love and pray for him. Sister Tânia is on the other end. She is a long time believer and has been with us since the beginning. She is our church treasurer. We have a vice treasurer too. At any rate, Tânia's husband, Ivan, is a very hard unsaved man and has made their marriage practically unbearable for her. They live under the same roof, but that is pretty much it. She has suffered much. She is the fruit of Uncle Russ and Aunt Judy Gordon's ministry, but lives near our congregation now and attends and helps out as we continue to try to grow with God's blessing.

We called our New Years' Eve food time "SanduĂches e Sobremesas", which means "Sandwiches and Desserts".

Marcos and his son Marcos Vinícius also attended. Marcos is Catholic and claims to have accepted Jesus as his Savior. On this particular night a border-line-heated debate ensued between Marcos and Tânia who is an ex-Catholic, of course. It ended amicably, and we continue to reach out to Marcos and his family. Our Christmas Program happened the week before. Here are a "few" pictures of that:

Here is Marcos and his family. They came to our Christmas service and dinner. Juleah participates in the soccer school where JoĂŁo, on the left also participates. This is how we got to know this family.

Marlucia, Marli, Chagas & Michelle are congregation members.

Alzira, second lady in, is a church neighbor, a believer and a relatively faithful attender. Her mother in purple, not a believer, came to visit with her that night.

Marquinhos, Maiane, Marisa and Mateus, a family from our mother church that help us out a lot; every other Sunday and almost every Wednesday night.

Jenny is our keyboard player and she does a great job. By the way, this keyboard was given to us by a young lady from Community Baptist Church in Bradenton, FL back in 2005 or 2010, I cannot remember which. It has been such a blessing to us! Eduardo, our vice treasurer, plays the guitar. It not an electric guitar. It is an acoustic guitar, but we are able to plug it in to our sound box to amplify the sound, which is a good thing since he plays it really softly and we would not be able to hear him otherwise.

Ricardo is our vice president and primary song leader. He does a very good job and has become Jon's right hand man.

Our Juleah sang a special with Eduardo.

Jon bringing the Gospel Christmas message.

Some of our folk present for the service on the left side of the church. Jillian there in front.

Some of our folk present on the right side of the church.

Food line!

Grape juice and soda pop!

Tânia's daughter-in-law Tatiana and her grand-daughters. Tatiana is married to Tânia's son Rômulo and they live in Natal which is 2 1/2 hours by car north of us. Tatiana, who is a believer, brought Rômulo, her husband, who is not a believer to church on another Sunday after this one and he got to hear the Gospel preached plain and clear then.

Gabriel and Jillian sitting together.

Jon talking to Marcos.

Alzira with her guests.

Juleah sitting with some teens.

Jon talking to Marrom.

Eduardo to the right invited this couple. Jorge works with Eduardo at an Auto Repair Shop.

Sister Tânia in the middle with grandson Raphael (who we led to the Lord) and her daughter-inlaw and grand-daughter.

Ricardo and his family

Eduardo's friend, Jorge, from work and his girl-friend.
