Fabric: (7) fat quarters for the Log Cabin Blocks (1) Quarter of a yard fabric for long border (1) Quarter of a yard fabric for short border Thread: Quilters cotton Recommended Needle: Microtex Sharp 80/12 Recommended Presser Foot: BERNINA’s #37 or #57 (1/4” piecing foot) Recommended Sewing Tools: Cutting mat, rotary cutter, sewing ruler To create your Log Cabin Top Step 1: Out of your log cabin material, cut the following, making your own color choices: (3) 12 ½ “ x 3 ½” rectangles (6) 9 ½” x 3 ½” rectangles (3) 6 ½“ x 6½“ squares (3) 6 ½” x 3 ½” rectangles Borders: (2) 36” x 2 ½“ (2) 18” x 2 ½“
Step 2: Assemble 3 Log Cabin blocks according to diagram. Press ¼” seams to the dark fabric. If you need help creating the Log Cabin, please call the store, and we’d be happy to help you.
Step 3: Attach borders by stitching the long sides on first them the two short ends. Step 4: Come to class with completed top, and check the other supply list for items and fabrics you’ll need during the actual class.
