Church, where we strive to live as faithful followers of Jesus our Savior and King. At the end of each pew is the friendship register – please take a moment to write down your name (and other information if it has changed or if you are a visitor) and pass it along the row and then pass it back for all to see who is sitting near to them. Please greet your neighbors at the close of the service!

and Liberated by the Life to Walk in the Way

Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost; Born of the Virgin Mary; Suffered under Pontius Pilate; Was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven; And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy catholic Church; The communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. AMEN.

The Passing of the Peace

Philippians 4:8

Minister: Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on these things. And the God of peace will be with you. The peace of Christ be with you all. People: And also with you.

The Benediction and the People’s Amen

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, 28

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. AMEN.

The Prayer of Confession, Minister only

The Greeting The Call to Worship

Isaiah 9:6–7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

The Prelude Silent Prayer: Almighty God, who by the rising of Jesus Christ from the dead has chosen this day and hallowed it, as a time of refreshing to our feeble and wearied bodied, a constant return to your solemn worship in the assembly of your Church, and an example and pledge of that rest that remains for the people of God; Grant that we may so use this day and all Sabbaths here in this present life that we do no fall short of you eternal rest with the choirs of angels and blessed spirits in the life to come. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN. (Lancelot Andrewes, b.1555)

The Ascription of Praise, standing as able

From the Scriptures

Minister: By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; People: You are the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might; who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples. Minister: You disarmed the demonic rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them by the cross. People: Through death, you destroyed the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. Minister: And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

The Prayer of Thanksgiving and Intercession

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. AMEN.

The Scripture Lesson

As was announced last Lord’s Day, the building campaign to preserve and maintain this lovely facility that the Lord has given us is progressing well. Exterior work, phase 2 of the maintenance project, is scheduled to begin on July 18. Decaying wood will be removed and replaced with a fiber cement product that looks and is paintable like wood, but much more durable, and then the exterior woodwork will be painted. We have received a bid from a local HVAC contractor to replace our aging system in the sanctuary, but as was announced last week, we are $7000 short of the total needed in the building fund. Your Session is asking that: (1) you pray, asking the Lord to provide the needed money. (2) you pray and consider giving to the building fund. This giving should be in addition to your regular tithes and offerings. If you are able to give to this fund, please be sure to mark the contribution “Building Fund.” If you have any questions about the specifics of this campaign, feel free to ask your Pastor or Elders.

The Lord’s Prayer

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen, Amen. All may be seated

The Call to Confession

If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared, steadfast love, and plentiful redemption. And you will redeem us, your Israel, from all our iniquities. Holy and Righteous Father, who graciously puts forth your hand to save those who cry out to you, and to draw them into the arms of your mercy; Hear us when we confess before you our foolishness and disobedience, our stains and defects, and sins that are hidden deep in our heart…
