Well this has been an action packed week with events and celebrations in almost every year group! Nursery and Reception Celebrations On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Nursery and Reception classes had their end of year celebration. The staff had compiled pictures of the children in their activities throughout the year. Parents, children and staff enjoyed watching the compilations. The reception children sang beautifully and the staff read a moving poem. Both Nursery and Reception received certificates and then had a chance to show their Learning Journeys to their families over refreshments. Both events were a fabulous celebration of the year and of the progress children had made. Well done to Nursery and Reception children and staff! SMILE Challenge On Wednesday a group of Y6 pupils represented their peers at the SMILE challenge celebration. The children had organised activities in the community to make someone smile. They took a selection of resources that had been prepared for the activities. Well done to Y6 for their contributions to the SMILE challenge. Virgin Money Project The Y5 children have been working with Virgin Money on similar projects to the SMILE challenge but with more of a profit making side focus. I was lucky to have my car washed from head to toe by a group of Y5 pupils. Thank you boys! The other fund-raising activities took place today, with the children working hard on their profit making ideas.

Pfeg Financial Literacy Last Thursday, when the children went home early, the staff were introduced to a programme for developing financial education for children. Over the next few terms we will work with Pfeg to develop children’s understanding of money matters. More information about this in September. Knowsley Safari Park The Reception children enjoyed their trip to the Safari Park yesterday and staff commented on their good behaviour throughout the day. Y2 Grandparents Tea Party Y2 hosted their Grandparents on Thursday and had baked many of the cakes for it, with Mrs Hay. The children sang beautifully for their grandparents before sharing afternoon tea with them. The children showed off their school to their Grandparents. Well done Y2, beautiful singing and cake making! Dance Performance Mrs Ward’s dance group performed in both Celebration Assemblies this week. They have perfected some exciting dance routines and I hope they will stay together to develop their dance expertise. Y6 Prom The Friends of Davenhill had worked hard to prepare for the Y6 prom on Wednesday. The hall was decorated beautifully and cocktails and a buffet prepared for the children. The children seemed to have a really fun evening and I’m sure will look back on the evening over the years. A big thank you to everyone who helped and to the children for their good behaviour.
