God calls us in various ways, all of which are designed to bring us in a closer walk with Him. Although it may seem to test us as an act of obedience to walk by faith, the Lord reveals His faithfulness in the process. Have you ever felt like God has called you to do something that is sacrificial on your part but in turn will bring glory to Him? It is one thing to say yes and begin to go through the steps but another thing to carry it out to completion, especially when it will cost you dearly. Abraham is one such person. He was called, by God, to take his son Isaac and offer Him as a burnt offering. This is the promised son who was to carry the torch forward for all of Abraham’s descendants. I know the Lord is the Lord and His ways are not my ways and His thoughts are not my thoughts but He made a covenant promise. Why change His mind now? Would Abraham be faithful; would the Lord be faithful to keep His covenant promise? Are we faithful when God calls us to sacrificial living; will he keep His promises to us. Will He provide a way out or through the testing? Just what will He provide? I am sure we can all relate to this in some way in our lives. I am challenging all of us to begin to prayerfully seek what the Lord is sacrificially calling us to do personally in our lives and being open to what He is calling us corporately to in our Mission here on Melody within our community. Are we willing to trust in His faithfulness as He has called Westview to the west side of Shelby from the very beginning of its existence? Come join us this Sunday on this incredible journey as we explore the outcome of Abraham’s challenge and how it relates to us in the message “God Will Provide – Part Two”. (Genesis 22:7-14) Yours In Christ, Rick INTERCESSORY PRAYER Intercessory Prayer is the simple act of praying on behalf of others. Romans 8:26-34 (NIV) tells us that Jesus Himself intercedes for us to The Heavenly Father. The concordance in the NIV Bible states that to intercede is to BEG OR PLEAD for another person. How comforting is that to know that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Heavenly Father BEGGING AND PLEADING to HIM on our behalf? If you don’t get excited about that then PLEASE spend some one on one time with Jesus and figure out what you are missing out on. Jesus is not the only one capable of interceding. We, you and me, can and must intercede for our friends, neighbors, church, nation, lost and dying people. We must have a constant state of interceding. Better said, we must have our minds set on continual prayer. Let us not be guilty of "sleeping on the job" as the disciples did in Matthew 26:36-46 when Jesus asked them specifically to pray for him in the garden. In order for MISSION ON MELODY to work, we must all intercede on each other’s behalf. Are you, with the help of The Holy Spirit willing to begin the process of intercessory prayer? Are you willing to BEG AND PLEAD for another person? Ask God to show you how to pray and then spend time interceding for people. For the Prayer Committee, Marsha Vanderburg
