GOOD NEWS!!
Let us give thanks to God for the hope we have in him through Christ!
At Common Soles we asked: “How have you experienced the presence of God in your life today?”
CHURCH of the COMMON GROUND NEWS a church community on the streets of Atlanta
Charles--He woke me up this morning.
July 2017
Dear Family and Friends of Common Ground,
Napoleon--He blessed me with some glasses today.
The book of Ecclesiastes says: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Mary--God me gave me a cool drink, fellowship and care for my feet at Foot Clinic.
I came as a priest to the Church of the Common Ground knowing it was my time to hear God’s call to grow with this community. In the years we have spent together, I have become a better priest and a better pilgrim of faith for the love, compassion and hope you show me and the world every day. When the presiding bishop, Katharine Jefferts Schori, visited us she told me: “You are the luckiest priest in the Episcopal Church.” She was and is right. It is a joy, privilege and honor to serve God by serving with you. Our season together has been one of great promise in the love of God.
JacksonD--Do not be content with the appearance of things. Always look for the truth in everything. That is my daily experience.
Now a new season has come upon my life. I recognize that a new purpose under God’s heaven is calling me and calling this church community. My calling will take me into retirement at the end of November. This will mean the start of a new time for Common Ground—a time in which the people of Common Ground will need to listen for God’s new purpose for them.
LaQuana--Knowing he saved me from a lot of things that could have been awful. I am grateful to be here today. Willie--Coming to foot clinic.
You will be included as the Diocese of Atlanta and the Advisory Committee for the Church of the Common Ground seek applicants for a new vicar. The diocese will ask members of Common Ground to share input about their hopes and dreams for this amazing church. Stay tuned for details on this.
Ron--When I woke up this morning. Milton--When I woke up this morning. Curtis--You gotta wake up to journey through the day so I thank God that he let me wake up.
God Is Good! He Is Oh So Good! Our volunteers at the nonmedical foot clinic offer a place to wash feet, get new socks, and receive some refreshments.

With first-timers like Brother Anthony who was so surprised to find us right next to the church park, to long time friends of the clinic, we share smiles and prayer.
In the meantime, I pray that we will walk together in this season of change. May we walk prayerfully together toward hearing God’s purpose for this time in our lives as people and as a church. May God bless this season of change at Common Ground with love, compassion and hope. You really matter to me. With my love, respect and admiration for you all, Pastor Mary + SUNDAYS:

What is the best thing about Atlanta? CCG bible study and this church.
Sam
What do you like most about CCG? Learning the word of Jesus. I like the people at this church. They listen and they understand people's problems and they care for people.
Morning Prayer and Our New TACC Intern What I most enjoy about working with CCG is that they have successfully taken the gospel of Jesus Christ into the streets where the needs are great. The church goes out into the highways and byways and welcomes all to come. TACC Intern Kevin Moore is originally from Dayton, Ohio, has lived in Atlanta, for about 4 years.
One of the vital missions of the church is simply to help! I am inspired by the work that CCG does daily. For fun I enjoy reading and swimming.
We pray this birthday will warm your heart and may God's warmth not ever depart. If you would like your birthday listed in the CCG newsletter, please make sure to let one of the priests know what date it is.
What is Ordinary Time?
In the church liturgical year, the time after Pentecost and until the start of Advent is sometimes called “Ordinary Time”. But, this actually isn’t just an “ordinary” time. For the period between Pentecost and Advent, it is a time for Christians to reflect deeply on the gifts of Easter and God’s love. It is a time where Christians can work to grow and mature their faith in the rich spiritual soil of God and community. It is a time where Christians may take their cue from nature and lovingly allow God to work in their lives and help them to thrive and blossom. During this time, priests wear green vestments as a reminder of the vibrancy and assurance that is the faith life.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.
