K-5 Schoolwide Vocabulary Initiative Because…Words Have Power!
“Building all levels of students’ vocabulary is crucial to success as readers and writers.” Karen Haag
Develop a campus-wide vocabulary plan tailored specifically for the needs and language levels of your students. This workshop series will feature the work of Robert Marzano, Nancy Frey, Douglas Fisher and others to assist in personalizing vocabulary and instructional strategies specific to your school. Campuses are asked to designate one Vocabulary Coach to attend the workshop series. The Vocabulary Coach will be trained to work with campus teachers and staff to develop and implement the personalized, comprehensive Campus Vocabulary Plan. Workshop Dates: August 16th: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. September 13th: 1-4 p.m. October 18th: 1-4 p.m. November 15: 1-4 p.m. Principals: Please contact Leanna Harrison at [email protected] to register your Campus Vocabulary Coach! Participants (limit of 25) will receive a complimentary copy of Robert Marzano’s Building Academic Vocabulary.
