Kaleidoscope Cutting Instructions Note: A widthwise cut (WOF) is from selvage to selvage. A lengthwise cut (LOF) is one that is parallel to the selvages. Cut and subcut in order as given as several subcuts are from the remains of previously cut strips.

Template Plastic • Cut one 9½" x 10½" rectangle from the plastic template. 24391 H: Fabric A (panel) Block A • Center the 9½" x 10½" template over the quote (text) printed on the panel and fussy cut (7) 9½" x 10½" rectangles. 24392 H: Fabric B (yellow-green kaleidoscope print) Outer Border • From the LOF, fussy cut (2) 4¾" x 76½" rectangles, centering on the same stripe. Fussy cut (2) 4¾" x 64½" rectangles, centering on the same stripe as previous border cuts. Reserve remaining fabric. Block B • From reserved fabric and the WOF, cut (4) 7¼" x WOF strips. Subcut (7) 7¼" squares. Cut each square on the diagonal twice to yield (28) QST (quarter-square triangles). 3. Unit 2. Referring to Diagram 2 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one 7¼" Fabric C (blue-green kaleidoscope print) QST between two 3⅞" Fabric H (light blue tonal) HSTs for one Unit 2. Unit 2 should measure 3½" x 6½". Make a total of twenty-six Unit 2.

4. Referring to Diagram 3 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one 4¼" Fabric G (yellow tonal) QST to one 4¼" Fabric I (dark blue tonal) QST for one HST unit. Make a total of (52) HST Units and (52) Reverse HST Units. Diagram3

24394 QY: Fabric I (dark blue tonal) Block B • Cut (3) 4¼" x WOF strips. Subcut (26) 4¼" squares. Cut each square on the diagonal twice to yield (104) QST (quartersquare triangles). Inner Border • Cut (8) 1½" x WOF strips. Piece all strips together (end to end) to make a continuous strip. Subcut (2) 1½" x 64½" rectangles and (2) 1½" x 76½" rectangles. Binding • Cut (7) 2½" x WOF strips.

5. Unit 3. Referring to Diagram 4 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one HST Unit and one Reverse HST Unit to one 7¼" Fabric D (green leaves print) QST for Unit 3. Unit 3 should measure measure 3½" x 6½". Make a total of (26) Unit 3. Diagram 4

6. Unit 4. Referring to Diagram 5 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one HST Unit and one Reverse HST Unit to one 7¼" Fabric F (purple leaves) QST for Unit 4. Unit 4 should measure measure 3½" x 6½". Make a total of (26) Unit 4.

Quilt Instructions Block A 1. Referring to Diagram 1, sew one 2" x 10½" Fabric F (purple leaves print) rectangle to each long side of the 9½" x 10½" Fabric A (panel) rectangle. Sew one 1½" x 12½" Fabric F (purple leaves print) rectangle to each short side of the Fabric A rectangle for one Block A. Block A should measure 12½" square. Make a total of seven Block A.

7. Units A and B. Referring to Diagram 6 and noting orientation of the units, sew one Unit 1 to one Unit 3 for Unit A. Unit A should measure 6½" square. Make a total of twenty-six Unit A. Noting orientation of the units, sew one Unit 2 to one Unit 4 for Unit B. Unit B should measure 6½" square. Make a total of (26) Unit B.

8. Block B Row. Referring to Diagram 7 and noting orientation of the units, sew one Unit A to one Unit B for row. Row should measure 6½" x 12½". Make a total of (26) Block B rows.

Block B 2. Unit 1. Referring to Diagram 2 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one 7¼" Fabric B (yellow-green kaleidoscope print) QST between two 3⅞" Fabric H (light blue tonal) HSTs for one Unit 1. Unit 1 should measure 3½" x 6½". Make a total of twenty-six Unit 1. quiltingtreasures.com

Kaleidoscope 9. Assemble Block B. Referring Diagram 8 and noting orientation of the rows, sew two Block B Rows together for one Block B. Block B should measure 12" square. Make a total of (13) Block B.

Miter border corners, aligning seams between the inner and outer border. Trim each mitered corner seam to ½". Press seam open. Quilt Top should measure 59" x 71".

Finishing 1. If not already done, prepare Fabric E (blue leaves print) backing to measure 67" x 79". 2. Lay out the quilt top right side up on the top of the batting and the wrong side of the backing fabric.

Assemble Quilt Top Note: Refer to the Quilt Layout Diagram for the following steps. 1. Row 1. Noting orientation of the blocks, sew four blocks together in the following order: Block B, Block A, Block B, Block B for Row 1. Row 1 should measure 12½" x 48½".

3. Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim the backing and batting even with the quilt top. 4. Sew the seven 2½" x WOF Fabric I (dark blue tonal) strips together (end to end) using 45° seams to make a continuous strip. Fold strip in half lengthwise (with wrong sides together) and press. Bind as desired.

2. Row 2. Noting orientation of the blocks, sew four blocks together in the following order: Block A, Block B, Block B, Block A for Row 2. Row 2 should measure 12½" x 48½".

Sew one 1½" x 76½" Fabric I (dark blue tonal) rectangle to one 4¾" x 76½" Fabric B (yellow-green kaleidoscope print) rectangle for a side border. Make a total of two Side Borders. 8. Beginning and ending ¼" from Quilt Center (back stitch to secure seam), center and sew one Side Border to each long side of the Quilt Center.
