Tonight’s Preview: The Kelowna Rockets play their 5 home game of the season tonight when they welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings. This is the one and only meeting of the season between the two teams. In their last visit, October 26/2010, Mark Stone scored once and added an assist in a 3-1 win. Shane McColgan scored the lone goal in a losing cause. Neither of those players are with those two teams. Last season, in Brandon, the Wheat Kings earning a 5-3 win. Colton Sissons scored twice while th Carter Rigby added his 9 of the season in a losing cause. Following tonight’s game, the Rockets head out on a Central Division road trip which starts Wednesday in Medicine Hat. The trip includes stops in Red Deer, Edmonton and Calgary. Overall, the Rockets have won four of their last seven games. The Rockets st next home game is November 1 against the visiting Kamloops Blazers. This and That: In the Rockets 5 wins this season, Myles Bell has earned 15 points (6+9=15). Of the 25 goals scored by the team, Bell has been in on 15 of them or 60 percent…Bell has 8+11=19 after 11 games this season. Brandon Wheat Kings (6-4-1-0) at Kelowna Rockets (5-5-1-0) Saturday, October 20, 2012 - 9:05 p.m. (CDT), Prospera Place Brandon Game Notes: The Brandon Wheat Kings visit the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday night in the third game of their seven-game, 14-day road trip (8:35 p.m., 880 CKLQ). The Wheat Kings split the opening two games of the road trip in Alberta this week, beating the Tigers in Medicine Hat 7-6 on Tuesday night and dropping a 6-1 decision to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday. Brandon will face all five teams in the B.C. Division to close out the trip starting with Saturday’s contest in Kelowna. Roster: The Wheat Kings currently have 23 players on their roster, two goaltenders, eight defencemen and 13 forward. Brandon’s roster includes 13 players selected in the WHL Bantam Draft, two acquired in the CHL Import Draft, three listed players and five acquired via trade. The Provincial breakdown has nine players from Alberta, five players Manitoba, four from Saskatchewan and three from British Columbia and two imports. Roster Moves: The Wheat Kings saw their roster reduced by two this week. Second-year F Daniel Asham indicated a lack of desire in leaving the team on Wednesday while the club assigned F Quintin Lisoway, 17, to the MJHL’s Steinbach Pistons on Monday. Anning Added to Staff: The Brandon Wheat Kings have added David Anning to their coaching staff. Anning was GM/Coach of the MJHL’s Winnipeg Saints the last two seasons and had spent the first two months of 2012-2013 as the Assistant GM/Coach of the Steinbach Pistons. Anning will join the team Sunday in Victoria. Injury Report: F Jason Swyripa (wrist, indefinite); F Richard Nejezchleb (upper body, day-today). The last time the Wheat Kings visited Kelowna came on October 26, 2010 with the Wheat Kings picking up a 3-1 victory over the Rockets. In fact, Brandon has four straight against the Rockets including their last two visits to Prospera Place.

He’s the youngest player to don Brandon's ‘C’ since Terry Yake was named captain in 1986…a trio of Wheat Kings were among the WHL players identified by the NHL Central Scouting Service in its preliminary rankings. Ryan Pulock is among the seven skaters on the A list while Eric Roy is on the B List and Ayrton Nikkel is on the C List. All three are eligible for next June's NHL Draft…Brandon has three B.C.-born players on their roster for the second straight year. Prior to last season, the last time the Wheat Kings had three or more B.C.-born players on their roster was the 2001-2002 season (Ryan Craig, Randy Ponte and Richard Mueller)…Brandon hasn’t finished in the top ten in penalty-killing since the 2007-2008 season, when the club finished with an 84.2% success rate…more than half of Brandon’s roster (12 players) were not with the team on a full-time basis last season…the Wheat Kings were guests of two of their higher profile alumni earlier this week as Wade Redden and Jordin Tootoo treated the team to supper in Kelowna on Thursday night.
