Academic Experience – Administrative Assistant Dean – Educational Support Services Division Community College of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA April 2012 – present ▪

Managing the College’s Academic Advising system, in collaboration with the Dean and faculty department head, which includes required advising service by approximately 300 full-time, unionized, teaching faculty members, paid advising service by approximately 50 full-time and adjunct, unionized, teaching faculty members working in centralized advising offices at 4 campus locations, and case-load advising service by 9 full-time faculty advisors. Responsibilities include: monitoring of and reporting on faculty compliance addressing problems and complaints assisting advisors with technology and challenging student scenarios evaluating advising sessions and use of the Starfish retention software facilitating workshops for faculty advisors disseminating curricular and procedural information via e-mail and the online learning management system (CANVAS) managing the Main Campus Advising Center and staff collaborating with regional center directors regarding on-site advising services scheduling paid advisors, and advising students as needed Serving on the Degree Works (online degree audit platform) implementation and maintenance team. Facilitating group registration events for new students placed in ESL courses (in collaboration with the department of full-time faculty counselors). Supporting a variety of projects, initiatives, and reporting requirements associated with departments within the division, including Developmental Education, the Assessment Center, the Learning Lab, and ongoing efforts to improve IPEDS graduation rates. Determined teaching assignments and providing general support and supervision for approximately 70 Fall/Spring semester adjunct instructors and approximately 35 Summer I/II session instructors teaching mathematics and science courses at Marple Campus (Media, PA) and the Southeast Center (Sharon Hill, PA). Recruited, hired, oriented, and evaluated adjunct faculty. Resolved student complaints and responded to grade appeals related to adjunct faculty and their courses. Collaborated with full-time, tenured/tenure-track faculty regarding support, evaluation, and professional development for adjunct faculty. Collaborated with fellow assistant deans and the Center to Promote Excellence in Teaching and Learning regarding college-wide professional development and orientation for adjunct faculty. Collaborated with Chester County Operations staff regarding recruitment of and support for adjunct faculty teaching in Chester County.
