Tigers  Crossing!

No   tigers,   really.   This   is   a   new   crossing   in   Hackney   which   allows   cyclists   to   legally   cross   the   road   without  dismounting,  and  with  priority.  We’d  love  to  see  one  of  these  on  the  route  from  Crane  Park,   and  in  all  sorts  of  other  locations  across  the  borough!

One  Way  Streets     We’re   asking   the   council   to   make   it   possible   to   cycle   on   more   of   our   one   way   streets,   and   they’ve   promised  to  consider  these.  You  can  see  the  proposed  list  on  our  site  –  www.richmondlcc.co.uk  -‐  and   you’ll  see  a  link  to  add  your  comments,  or  of  course  email  us  directly.

£10m  for  the  A316   Transport  for  London  has  committed  £10m  to  fix  cycling  on  the  A316.  This  money  isn’t  going  to  spent   for  a  while,  but  we’d  really  like  your  feedback  on  what  you  like  and  don’t  like  about  using  this  key  road   in  the  borough.  In  a  classic  example  of  two  groups  not  talking  to  each  other,  TfL  has  just  approved  a

pointless   and   very   minor   upgrade   to   Marksbury   Avenue   which   we   didn’t   like,   and   nor   did   the   local   residents’  association  –  so  make  your  voice  heard!

Twickenham  –  What  can  we  say?   As  we  warned,  two  years  ago,  the  new  Twickenham   is  terrible  for  cycling.  But  our  best  tweet  this  month   highlighted   this   beautiful   picture   from   Twitter’s   @bikesandbabies,  showing  her  four  year  old,  riding  a   bike  safely  in  London.     We’ve   constantly   told   the   council   that   this   is   what   they   should   be   aiming   for,   but   they   still   don’t   seem   to  get  it.

New  Brooms   But  there  are  some  new  brooms  at  the  council,  and   we  need  your  help  keeping  them  ‘on  the  job’,  so  why   not   come   along   to   the   Cycling   Liaison   Group?   You   can   see   all   the   details   here   -‐   http://cabnet.richmond.gov.uk/ieListMeetings.aspx? CommitteeId=453   -‐   as   well   as   the   date   of   the   next   meeting,  21  July.

Rides   And  there  are  more  free  rides  going  on  –  check  out  our  site  (richmondlcc.co.uk)  or  the  rides  page  on   LCC  (lcc.org.uk/events)  for  more  details.

Bikefest   Finally,   we’ll   hopefully   be   at   Bikefest   this   year   at   Kneller   Gardens,   on   28th   June   –   come   along   for   goodies  and  bike  talk!  (Details  at  http://www.richmond.gov.uk/strictly_cycling).
