At the top of the ramp make a U-turn and park. Enter the building through the glass doors. Signs and greeters will guide you to the meeting room. Robert David Cobbs, Jr. is the Assistant Vice President of Diversity & Equal Employment Opportunity with Norfolk Southern Corporation. He leads and facilitates system-wide diversity initiatives and compliance efforts in equal employment opportunity and affirmative action. David has been employed with Norfolk Southern since 1977; he’s held various positions throughout the corporation from New York to Chicago. He once gained extensive experience performing various jobs such as a brakeman, conductor, and locomotive engineer, during an 88-day work stoppage by clerical employees. David attended Duke University. He completed an Executive Education program at the Fuqua School of Business and graduated cum laude with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. David has been involved in several professional associations. He is currently associated with the Equal Employment Advisory Council (EEAC) in Washington, DC and The Salvation Army – Tidewater Area Command in Norfolk, VA. He served on each of their Board of Directors and chaired several committees. He previously mentored middle-school students in Norfolk public schools as part of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Mentors Program. David has been married for 34 years to Bobbie Brown Cobbs; they have 3 grown children. Some of his favorite pastimes are traveling, tennis, Yoga, Pilates, Paddle boarding, surfing and jogging.
