Easter Package 2016 Holy (or Great) Thursday, April 28th 2016 Easter preparations begin on Holy Thursday when the traditional Easter sweet bread, “tsoureki”, is baked, and eggs are dyed red. From ancient times, the egg has been a symbol of the renewal of life, and the message of the red eggs is victory over death. We are welcoming you with special fasting Greek delicacies in your room. 20:00 – 23:30 Dinner Buffet served at Café Nikki will include seafood, sushi and other fasting and non-fasting choices. Kids choices also available. Holy (or Great) Friday, April 29th 2016 The holiest day of Holy Week is Holy Friday. It is a day of mourning. The church bells ring the death knell all morning. Girls decorate the Epitafio – the funeral bier and a service is held for Christ’s funeral. 08:00 – 11:00 Breakfast Buffet, served at Café Nikki At dusk the Epitafio is paraded through the village or town streets quietly. It is a powerful, beautiful, mysterious, humbling, healing and moving night. It is filled with tradition and ritual. It is about renewal and faith. The Guest Experience department will be happy to inform you regarding the choices and the nearby churches and monasteries, to experience the Epitafio. We are welcoming you with special fasting Greek delicacies in your room. (This applies to Friday Arrivals) 20:00 – 23:30 Dinner Buffet served at Café Nikki will include seafood, sushi and other fasting and non-fasting choices. Kids choices also available.

On Holy Saturday, the Eternal Flame is brought to Greece by military jet, and is distributed to waiting Priests who carry it to their local churches. 08:00 -11:00 Breakfast_Buffet,served at Café Nikki Special candles made for Easter are called “labatha” and are often given as gifts to children from their parents or God-parents. Tsoureki, red eggs, labatha and other small surprises will be delivered in the rooms on Saturday. (including arrivals). 18:00 – 20:00 Cooking Classes for children and older children The Chef’s Team will introduce you to secret of Easter Treats. Join & Enjoy! The Anastasi, the Resurrection, takes place at midnight and is the culmination of Holy Week. At the Church the midnight Service of the Resurrection is an occasion attended by everyone who is able, including children, each holding a white candle lighting of the Holy Flame. The Priest passes the Holy Flame throughout the congregation and all light a candle with cries of Christos Anesti! The flame is passed from person to person, and it isn't long before the church and courtyard are filled with flickering candlelight. The night air is filled with the singing of the Byzantine Chant "Christos Anesti," and the "fili tis Agapis" (kiss of Love) and wishes are exchanged. As is the custom, as soon as "Christos Anesti" is called out, church bells ring joyously nonstop, ships in ports all over Greece sound their horns, floodlights are lit on large buildings, and great and small displays of fireworks and noisemakers are set off. 23:00 Nikki Water Taxis will leave the resort’s jetty to take you to Spetses Old Harbor for the Anastasi. 00:30 Nikki Water Taxis are coming back in the resort for the Festive Dinner. Please arrange your roundtrip transfer with the Guest Experience Department. The specific service is optional with an extra charge and on a priority basis. Please pre-book your transfer on time for your convenience.

Starting from 11:00 until 19:00 you will enjoy an amazing Easter Buffet with delicious traditional Greek food, but Nikki Global Cuisine too. The traditional way of cooking the Easter Lamp will take place on the beach next to the sea, while delicious treats will be served around the Nikki Beach Club.
