God has a lot of qualities, but three of them set
Him completely apart from us.
(ahm NIP uh tuhnt)–“God is all-powerful.” He can do anything, make anything, move anything, create anything, change anything, and destroy anything. He won’t even break a sweat in doing it. (ahm NIH shunt)–“God is all-knowing.” God knows everything that has ever happened or will ever happen. He knows every detail about every person in every country on the earth. He never forgets anything and never has to study. (ahm nih PREH zunt)–“God is all-present.” He is everywhere—in heaven and on earth. He’s around Jupiter, in Detroit and Cuba, and anywhere else you can imagine. It’s not just that He can be in two places at once. He’s everywhere at once. Always.

In the great Greek epic, The Iliad, you can read about the many false gods in which the Greeks believed. Unlike the true God of the Bible, the Greek gods were more like superheroes. Specifically, they did not live up to the omnis.
ZEUS ,
the head god, was very powerful, but the other gods could gang up on him and beat him for a while. Zeus was not omnipotent.
ZEUS
had to hear what was going on in the war from messengers. He didn’t know what was happening on earth. Zeus wasn’t omniscient.
ZEUS
might travel quickly from Mount Olympus to Troy, but he couldn’t be in both places at the same time. Zeus certainly was not omnipresent.
There are lots of famous people in our world. Some of them are famous for being really good at something; others seem to be famous for being famous. Think about the celebrities you’ve seen on TV and in the movies or read about in a magazine article. Who do you think is the most famous in each category? Who is your favorite?
