John 8:31-32 If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. 1 Peter 3:15-16 And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. At 11:00 on Sunday morning when we stand and sing and Christ has no east or west, we stand at the most segregated hour in this nation. This is tragic. Nobody of honesty can overlook this. How can we live like we don’t believe the myth “Jesus is white”? 1. _________ with the real Jesus A. Connect with Jesus as he is, not as we imagine he is John 1:14; Matthew 5:17; John 4:1-43; The answer to racism isn’t sociological, it’s theological. Dr. Tony Evans B. Connect with Jesus’ mission to reconcile races Luke 10:29-37; Ephesians 2:14-22 Racial reconciliation isn’t just a good idea because it’s politically correct. The message of the gospel is at stake. Afshin Ziafat 2. ______ from others who follow Jesus A. Learn from the early church: Acts 6:1-7; Galatians 2:14; 3:26-29 B. Learn from our contemporary brothers and sisters Philippians 2:1-4 ___________! As long as we keep people at a distance, we can categorize them as monsters or animals. But when we get closer and begin to communicate with each other, we recognize that people are just like us in many ways. Comprehension begins with conversation. David A. Anderson 3. __________ your assumptions and attitudes To be fair, we have come light years away from slavery, Jim Crow laws, and other overt displays of racial hatred.
