SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Differentiation in the Classroom for SEN Students Delegates will be given strategies to help students with SEN gain easier access to the curriculum. Strategies for differentiation by time, outcome, learning style and support will be offered. Techniques will be demonstrated to help develop the skills of students on the Autistic Spectrum as well as those with Specific Learning Needs, including Dyslexia and Attention Issues. Delegates will be given guidance as to the most effective ways of communication and task management for SEN students.

The aims of this course are to: • Understand the specific barriers to learning • Provide strategies to promote differentiation by time, task, outcome and support • Demonstrate effective methods of communication • Suggest activities to promote and celebrating personal success Who should attend? About the tutor Colin Troy is an experienced educationalist with thirty years’ teaching experience, in a variety of settings, including eight years as Head of Special Schools. He is now a consultant, trainer and lecturer specialising in pupils and students of all ages with special educational needs including: Autism, Emotional and Behavioural needs and Specific Learning Difficulties. Colin also runs mentoring courses for students and teachers, management seminars - and also advises on inspections. He has also been a foster carer for children.
