Lindita Peak, Chugach M ountains. Jon Fisher and I organized this trip to the head of the Tazlina G lacier. The whole party, G ary Benninger, G regory Bramlet, Fisher, H alford Joiner, Tom Lam b, Bill Plock, D r. Randall Travis and I, made the third ascent of “M ount F reuchen” (6965 feet) on June 29. On July 1, the first ascent was made of Lindita Peak (7910 feet) (V aldez B7 Q uadrangle) on the divide between the T azlina and the East Branch of the Colum bia Glaciers. T he route was the northeast face, the north-facing knife-edged ridge, and along the corniced and hum py ridge to the small snow summit. H al Joiner led the climb for Doc Travis, Tom Lam b, and me. On the descent, we were carried down the last 200 yards by a w et snow avalanche. Lindita Peak is the highest peak that can be seen at the head of the T azlina G lacier from the G lenn Highway near the Tazlina G lacier Lodge. Law rence
