Little League Equipment Check Guidelines Safety is the responsibility of everyone! Managers must ensure that the equipment that will be used at the game are not only legal per Little League rules, but also that the equipment is not damaged and may be dangerous to use. We require that umpires inspect the equipment before the game begins. To facilitate this the manager will make sure that all bats, batting helmets and catcher’s equipment are placed outside the dugout approximately 1015 minutes prior to game time. It would make the task of inspecting bats in Majors and below easier if all composite barrel bats are grouped together. The manager should have all supporting documentation printed out and ready to prove that the bats meet the specifications required for 2 ¼” composite barrel bats as found at littleleague.org/batlist .
