If you register for all four classes by Sept 22, 2012, you’ll receive Judy’s book, “Freemotion Quilting.” Collect her signature at the Friday reception. It will be a fun Retreat so we really hope you can join us! Hands-On Class fees include course instruction, instructional materials, thread and fabric kit & use of an HQ. Lecture Class fees include course instruction, instructional materials and Question & Answer period.

We are proud to offer you an informative and fun Retreat again. this year, we have Judy Woodworth, an award winning quilter and instructor from Allience NE bringing her expertise and fun teaching techniques to you. We invite you to a Retreat Reception on Friday night, where we’ll chat with one another and have some show and tell, as well as a trunk show by Judy “A Journey Through Judy’s Quilts”. You can have your lunch time on your own to relax and shop Fremont, or you can join us for boxed lunches from Alotta Brownies - always a great meal (we’ll have some time to shop after lunch). We also have a list of Hotels and Restaurants for you on our website for your lodging and evening meals.

About the Instructor Special Guest Educator

Judy Woodworth National Instructor and Special Guest Judy Woodworth is not only a teacher and an author, but she is an International, award winning quilter who we are proud to bring you. She has quilted almost 4,000 quilts throughout her career. Her students say that she is very enthusiastic and funny. They also praise her for the way she breaks down her quilting techniques so that even a beginner can participate in class and understand it. They also love the way she provides so many tips and “real life” quilting experiences that students come away from her classes with way more than they expected. She has won hundreds of awards including: Best Long-Arm Quilting, A top Tier Award, at the American Quilters’ Society’s Show in Paducah, Kentucky in 2012. Her Quilt was then purchased by the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. Her and her piecing partner, Mary Sue Suit, have twice taken first place at the Houston International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX. She has also won many other awards with her own creations. Judy writes a quarterly column for the “IMQA’s On Track Magazine”, and has been a featured writer in almost all of the major quilting magazines. In March, 2013, she will be featured on the cover of ”Machine Quilting Unlimited” magazine. Judy has made appearances on quilting shows such as “The Quilt Show” with Ricky Timms and Alex Anderson, the “Quilting School” with Linda Taylor, and she has also been featured on “Quilt it! The Longarm Quilting Show” with Jody Davis.

You are sure to have a lot of fun all while gaining the confidence and skills you need to make your quilts even more beautiful with Judy’s easy to follow techniques and tricks. In this class Judy will take, even the beginning quilters, and train their minds and hands to work together. This quilting dance will help you to make curls, do swirls, and create other intricate designs without using any templates, rulers, or pantographs .You will instantly be able to use these creations in your quilts. Judy lets everyone work at their own pace giving the beginners the time that they need and allowing the more experienced quilters to move ahead. 1:00-2:30 Boxed Lunch from

Hands On & Lecture Format

In this class, Judy will be teaching you some of the backfill designs that she used in her award winning quilt, “Avatar Revisited” which took home “Oustanding Long-Arm Workmanship” award. From the “ins” and “outs” of when to use a backfill, how to break down an area, and how to change from using a small backfill to a medium backfill, to what backfills will bring even more focus and definition to your quilts, turning them into the masterpieces you’ve always dreamed of making. 7:00pm-8:30pm

This class is for beginners and advanced quilters alike. The class is packed full of border and sashing designs and techniques that will individualize your quilting to really help it be the center of attention. You will also learn about the many different types of backfill that can be used in your quilts as well as when to use them. She will be teaching you how to advance your quilts through the long-arm so that your borders and sashing lines remain straight, all while avoiding pleats or puckering on your backing.

Overalls, Wide Borders, and Feathers Hands On & Lecture Format

If you have taken the other classes, and/or are an intermediate quilter, then we highly recommend taking this class. Judy is going to help you take feathers from basic, to an even more extraordinary, advanced look, while providing you with the knowledge you need to incorporate them into the overall design of your quilts, or just to use in a large border. She will teach you how to make your feathers weave over one another and how to sub-divide large areas to creating even more interest.
