LTCOL DAVID A. MUELLER was commissioned a 2ndLt upon graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy in May of 1996. After graduation from The Basic School in 1997, 2ndLt Mueller proceeded to flight training in Pensacola, FL. He was designated a Naval Aviator in September of 1999 and was assigned to fly the EA-6B Prowler. In January, 2001 Captain Mueller reported to Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron One (VMAQ-1) in Cherry Point NC for his first fleet tour. With VMAQ-1, Captain Mueller deployed to Incirlik, Turkey in 2001 to support Operation NORTHERN WATCH, Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia in 2002 to support Operation SOUTHERN WATCH, and again in 2003 to support Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Captain Mueller attended Weapons and Tactics Instructor course 1-04 from September to October 2003 and deployed to Iwakuni, Japan from February to November 2004. Captain Mueller was assigned to the Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR) in Norfolk, VA from January 2005 to December 2008 as an Operational Test Coordinator (OTC). While an OTC, he was assigned to the operational test teams for the EA-6B, EA-18G, and F-35 programs. Major Mueller departed OPTEVFOR a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps with Level II certification in Program Management and Level III in Test and Evaluation. In February 2006, Captain Mueller volunteered for an Individual Augment billet with Joint Crew Composite Squadron One (JCCS-1), a counter-IED EW (CREW) command set up for the Iraq mission. He deployed to Iraq with JCCS-1 from May 2006 to April 2007 where he served on the I MEF and II MEF staffs, traveled throughout western Iraq to coordinate and supervise CREW training, and spent four months attached to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit as their Electronic Warfare Officer. Major Mueller attended the Australian Command and Staff College in Canberra, Australia for their 2009 academic year. While in Australia he earned a master’s degree in Strategy and Policy from the University of New South Wales and participated in an official ten-day trip to Vietnam. Major Mueller reported to VMAQ-3 in March 2010 where he spent 22 months as the Operations Officer, including a seven month deployment to Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Bagram, Afghanistan. He served as the Executive Officer of VMAQ-3 from February 2012 until February 2013 and deployed for seven months to Al Udeid, Qatar in support of regional contingency operations. LtCol Mueller took command of VMAQ-4 in September of 2013 and deployed that squadron to Al Udeid from August 2014 to February 2015. He participated in Operations ENDURING



FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE, including participation in the first U.S. strikes into Syria against Daesh. After relinquishing command in April of 2015, LtCol Mueller attended the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama where he earned a master’s degree in Strategic Studies. He has been assigned as a Commandant of the Martine Corps Fellow for Academic Year 2016-17 with the Center for a New American Security. LtCol Mueller has accumulated over 2000 mishap free flight hours and is the recipient of several personal and unit awards. He is married to the former Lauren Schultz of Wethersfield, CT and has one daughter.
