LWML Chooses Theme for Salt Lake City Albuquerque* in 2017 The Executive Committee of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) announces the theme and Scripture verse for the 37th Biennial LWML Convention that will be held June 22-25, 2017, in Salt Lake City, Utah Albuquerque, New Mexico. Theme: Jesus Christ Above All Scripture Verse: Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name (Philippians 2:9). Convention Goal Statement: Empowered by the Holy Spirit, through Word and Sacrament, I will proclaim Jesus Christ above all. Convention Objectives -- Each convention attendee will be:  Encouraged through worship and Bible study  Equipped to share His message of salvation  Engaged in celebrating God’s faithfulness while serving the Lord with gladness The convention theme encompasses the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the celebration of 75 years of LWML, and the witness to the Salt Lake City Albuquerque community that Jesus Christ is above all. LWML President Patti Ross shared, “As an organization, our goal is and has always been to joyfully proclaim Jesus wherever and whenever He sends us and to support the missions and missionaries of our Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. We look forward to these celebrations with joy and gladness.” *Convention location changed to Albuquerque, New Mexico as of March 2016.

Monthly Mission Grant Resources Available Each month, one of the 19 mission grants for the 2015-2017 biennium will be featured on the LWML website. A number of resources can be downloaded. Share these with your church through newsletters and bulletins and use them in your society, zone, and district to help people see mites at work. September’s featured grant is for Clean Water and Evangelism Ministry. Mission Power Poster Sets Now Available Posters with a description for each of the 19 mission grants for the 2015-2017 biennium are now available. Each poster includes pictures, a brief story, and a prayer. Mission Power Posters are offered to encourage mission grant support and participation. Place posters on fellowship hall bulletin boards, post in hallways, share during society meetings, create themes for school bulletin boards and Sunday School displays, and use during personal prayer time and devotions. Pastoral Counselor Nominee Deadline District presidents are gathering names of pastoral counselor nominees for the 2017 convention ballot. While the official nomination must come from a LWML District President, nominees will be returning completed forms to the Nominating Committee Chairman by October 31, 2015. President Patti Ross asks for prayers during this process and God’s blessings on the Pastors considering nomination.
