We appreciate your support when you buy your supplies at Monica’s. Students get 10% off on class supplies. On class day you get 10% off all purchases (sale items not included.) Fabric:  Background fabric: neutral, light value print, fat quarter.  Bird fabric: contrast w/background. Avoid large prints w/high contrast in value  Foliage fabric: leaves, flowers, etc. that can be fussy cut; scale appropriate for an 11” X 14” canvas  Optional: border fabric, trim or fibers to stitch/couch around the edges  Low loft batting, at least 13” x 16”, natural fiber  Sewing machine, clean and ready to go. Please don’t bring a brand new machine that you have never used. It is important that you are familiar with the way your machine functions!  Machine extension table (recommended) Machine feet:  Straight stitch

 Darning/free motion and/or Appliqué foot

 Size 90/14 Topstitch needle (they are the same thing!) Thread: Can be cotton, rayon, polyester, variegated or solid, metallic—your choice. You may want to bring several different threads, such as  thread that blends with your background  thread that blends or contrasts with your birds, foliage  Small, sharp scissors for cutting images from fabric  Light weight double-sided fusible web such Lite Steam-a-Seam II  Steam Iron & ironing surface (we have some at the shop)  Pressing cloth/piece of lightweight muslin, larger than the bottom of your iron  Appliqué pressing sheet (non-stick sheet or parchment paper)  fine/extra fine tip felt pen for tracing bird images onto stabilizer
