MADE IN JAPAN
What Does It All Mean?
Yes! Right. Exactly. You have correctly understood the Japanese title of this flyer. We’ll be discussing the meaning of Christmas customs and traditions, and studying the Christmas story in the Bible.
Please Pray 1. We don’t trust in chariots & horses, nor in flyers and outreach programs, so we’re asking for your prayer for the people who receive these flyers, that they will respond by attending, and that they will be intrigued by scripture. We’d like to continue Bible studies in 2015. 2. We’re glad to report that our colleague Laura Kornelson now has a visa, has started working, and has a place in a “share house” with four other women, and opportunities for language learning and evangelism from that. . 3. Carol’s mother & child program has a steady attendance, and she’s building relationships with mothers. She’d like to do a Biblebased parenting seminar too, so pray for receptivity in this area. 4. Christmas brings opportunities to get into the biblical narrative in ways that don’t appear the rest of the year. Pray for our sensitivity to spiritual interest.
Is This the Perfect Time for Someone? The last time we distributed flyers in the area, it was for our English Club. Mr Azuma had been unemployed and ill for 18 months with an autoimmune disease, and had finally recovered and was starting a new job the day after our first time to meet. He’s interested in studying the Bible and will be with us this Sunday evening for our first session looking at the Christmas story in the Bible. We had the Covenant Players with us two weeks ago, and after seeing a short play about God’s grace, Mr. Azuma remarked on the second chance at life he’d been given. So, this time who will discover this flyer at a key point in their life and come into contact with us and the Gospel as a result?
Praise Time is the name given to our Sunday meeting, and somehow it became the name of our network of believers and seekers. We’ll be carefully thinking of a proper name together in the weeks to come.
Megan’s with us for Christmas, and of course Heather and Joe are already here. Laura will be getting in on turkey with family in Ontario, and then she’ll be into college in 2015.
In Summer 2015 Laura returns to Torchbearers Japan to resume her role as kitchen coordinator. You can read about her ministry here: http://laurawoon.wix.com/laurainja pan
