Manager Rides Maintenance Cedar Point has an immediate opening for the position of Manager Ride Maintenance in Sandusky, Ohio. full time position will report to the Director Rides & Electrical Maintenance.

JOB SUMMARY: Directs all Mechanical Maintenance functions including, Rides, Auto Repair, Welding, Boiler Plant, Laundry Equipment, Machine Shop, Tool Crib, Logistics, Railroad, and Water Quality. Manages budgets for the departments and related special projects. Individual is responsible for keeping all mechanical systems, equipment and machinery in good working order, in safe manner and compliant with local, state and federal codes and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Associate’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.  5-7 years related experience in an amusement park environment.  1-3 years supervisory experience with multiple reporting relationships.  Driver’s license.  Must be capable of assuming broad responsibilities and possess the ability to react quickly to fast-paced operational changes daily.  Must have knowledge of all laws and regulations pertaining to the Amusement Park Industry.  Ability to respond quickly to a broad spectrum of areas throughout the park.  Ability to handle a flexible and demanding schedule.  Must have good organizational and supervisory skills.  Ability to effectively communicate, follow directions, and manage a large number of technical demands daily.  Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.  Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.  Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Reviews daily, weekly, and monthly department paperwork and reports, and takes action to implement appropriate corrective actions to resolve operational concerns. Supervises several departments within the Maintenance division. Ensures training and provides direction to associates. Coaches and counsels associates to improve performance. Delegates work assignments. Motivates staff to achieve optimum job performance through positive feedback and personal example. Must be able to manage personnel issues fairly while maintaining the company's rights in a union environment.



         

Communicates with associates at all levels of the Company and key external contacts including vendors, other business contacts, regulatory agencies and local, state or federal government offices. Utilizes various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data. Communications may be complex and cover a variety of business related topics. Ensure that all ride inspections both pre-season and during the season are in compliance with regulatory agency standards and safety mandates. Ensures that the Director Rides & Electrical Maintenance and Vice President of Maintenance and New Construction is ae of all important incidents within the Rides Maintenance Group. Manages a Parts Crib so that maximum efficiency at the best price is obtained for the Maintenance Division. Must be capable of obtaining bids, writing purchase orders, ordering parts, and managing contractors within Cedar Fair's purchasing policies so that a quality facility is maintained for the best price. Develops and maintains operating budgets for all departments in the group, monitors all expenses by these groups to insure safety first, makes decisions to maintain expenses within budget while providing a quality environment for Cedar Point's guests. Regularly inspects, monitors, makes recommendations, and coordinates changes on rides to insure rider safety. Ensures that all subordinate maintenance associates comply with all applicable safety rules and regulations. Manages departments both in overhaul and operation to insure that an appropriate level of ride uptime is achieved to include planning and executing an affective overhaul schedule to achieve maximum results at the best price. Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment. Other duties may be assigned.
