General Board Meeting Minutes– March 1, 2016

B. Field & Equipment Update: Jason Buckley presented the report for Fields and Equipment. The approved generator has been purchased. Jason suggested purchasing covers for the mounds at DV Mustang, Bronco and Pony. John Tarascio, our John Deere contact, is getting together the cost for repairing the gator damaged from the recent break-in. Equipment is needed at Del Prado since our teams are there every night. Stephen Meli needs serial numbers on the equipment for insurance purposes. C. President’s Day Recap/Review of Policy: Jason Kerns discussed President Day's Tournament and new structure in partnering with Jeremy Huffman (USSSA Baseball). Presented all financial information, which showed a net contribution of approximately $900 (after expenses) towards the league general fund. Cited that for the future, he will work to obtain financial details earlier in order to present to board for full approval. It was also discussed if future President's Day tournament should be exclusively a NPPB fundraiser or if we should allow Newbury Park affiliated Cooperstown teams to continue to run them as fundraisers (citing lack of league volunteers available to run the additional tournament - on top of our Memorial Day and sanctioned tournaments each year). Board voted to continue to allow Newbury Park teams to partner as fundraisers - but exact details of arrangement be presented well in advance. 5.

OLD BUSINESS: A. Interleague Update: Jason Kerns presented the summary from the interleague meeting – including several minor rule clarifications. Things are going well with interleague. Eric Horne created google sheets to monitor pitch counts to ensure teams were complying with the interleague rules. B. Break-In Update: The four individuals involved in our recent shed break-in were from Camarillo. In the past year, 13 individuals (ages 13-20) have been arrested in relation to break-ins at our NPPB buildings located at DV. C. Opening Movie Night: Tracey Huff presented the Opening Movie Night update. Preparations are underway – movie (Minions) starts at 6:30pm, John Trudeau is updating flyer to send out, Cronies tri-tip has been ordered (but only available for movie night), Cheryl and Kelli met Dawn over the weekend to stock the snack shack, and NPPB apparel will be available for sale. After the movie, we can go inside the community center to have lights turned back on for clean up. D. Home Run Derby Review: Stephen Meli’s Riptide team would like to run the Home Run Derby at movie night as part of their Cooperstown fundraiser. The team is comprised of all NP players. They will give 25% of proceeds back to the league. Kevin Wright made a motion to approve the Riptide team to run the Home Run Derby at movie night, second by Joe. Motion approved. E. Apparel: Stephen Meli coordinated the purchase of new hats for sale on movie night, as well as a few new items that will be available for order.

6.

NEW BUSINESS A. Damaged Zooka Machine: Jason Kerns made a motion to reimburse Paul Needham $200 for the cost of his personal Zooka machine that was used and damaged during a previous player evaluations (at the fault of NPPB for not moving machine out of play during hitting session). Machine still operates, but digital display was shattered – making it difficult to operate. Motion approved.

7.

ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 9:03 pm by Jason Kerns, second by Brandon. Next meeting is TBD. Minutes submitted by Tracey Huff
