MARCH 2013

The Pine Press In Memoriam

A Letter from the Editor

Paris events leave the Colgate campus reeling I believe that as members of the Colgate community, it is important for you all to know of a recent event that has rocked the campus community. On March 10th a Colgate student and brother of Phi Delta Theta passed away as the result of a fall at the Paris hotel where he had been staying with the university’s Geneva Study Group. The boy was Luke Stalker, a current junior who was very well known around campus. The French authorities ruled his death accidental, and he is survived by his parents and three sisters. Students were notified via e-mail from Dean Nelson of Luke’s passing, and counselors were on hand for those in need.

A personal friend of mine and many other Tri Deltas, Luke was truly the kind of person you looked forward to seeing and talking to. He will be sorely missed and always remembered.

There are some moments in life that shock you into a realization. The realization that we are truly lucky to be a part of an organization where one person is an integral part of many, and the pains and joys of each of us are echoed in the hearts of our sisters. The past few weeks have shown me how important it is that we cherish our time together, because you never know what the next day may bring.

Peter (Luke) Stalker ’14

Where Are They Now? Find out what your sisters have been up to since graduation....

Through the numerous responses I received to last month’s Pine Press I was able to envision how strong we have the potential to become, and how the bonds of sisterhood we pledge to uphold at the very start of our membership should not be taken lightly. When we say that we will steadfastly love one another, let us say it in truth.

Delta Love, This month, in lieu of interviewing an alumna, the “Where are They Danie!e Scheer Now?” segment is being used to honor the memory of one of our own sisters who was taken from us far too soon: Sarah Kulkofsky ’02 graduated loved baking.
