Materials needed: An assortment of modern bright prints, and a light solid that coordinate with the prints. Cutting instructions for each block : Bright prints (Thinks Kaffe Fassett, Amy Butler, Zen Chic, Batiks or similar fabrics) Cut eight 3” squares Cut eight 3 ½” squares for the corner and center triangles blocks (you will have leftover triangles) Light solid Cut eight 3 ½” squares for the corner and center triangles blocks (you will have leftover triangles) Sewing Instructions: 1. Draw a diagonal line on the back of each of the 3 ½” solid squares, from corner to corner.
2. Place a 3 ½” print square on each 3 ½” solid square, right sides together. Sew ¼” on either side of the drawn lines, cut apart on the drawn line, and press triangle-squares open. “Square up” or trim the half square triangles to 3” square. 3. Arrange your 3” squares and 3” half-square triangles into 4 x 4 rows and sew together as illustrated. HINT: Press seams open to avoid the bulk in the seam allowance due to the triangle-squares.
