May 2016 Lotto Block Due May 4th Pattern from “I LOVE TO STITICH” by Cheri Payne This month choose from 3 different blocks, make one or all three! Your name is entered into the lotto drawing for each block you make.
General Instructions: We are using primitive/home spun style fabrics, like stripes, plaids, calicos, and small prints…. All seams are ¼”, Templates pieces for doll and basket already include ¼” seam allowance
Instructions for Diagonal 9-patch blocks: Cut thirteen 1½” squares out of assorted medium fabrics; sew nine of the squares together in a nine patch pattern. (3x3 as in center of diagram) Cut four 1½” x 3½” rectangles out of assorted lighter fabrics; sew two of the rectangles on either side of the 9-patch. Sew the remaining 1½” squares to each end of the remaining two rectangles. Then, sew these rectangle/square strips to the other two sides of the 9-patch. Cut two 4½” squares. Cut in half diagonally. Sew the triangles to each side of the center square, following the block diagram.
Instructions for Basket and Doll blocks: Cut out basket and doll block pieces using template pieces, these already include ¼” seam allowance. Sew blocks together following the block diagrams. Add a 1” strip of fabric to all four sides of the basket and doll blocks, and square off to 7½”. Accessorize the doll’s dress with buttons, if desired. Embroider stems and add button flowers to the basket if desired. IMPORTANT: If printing the templates from the PDF, be sure to print as actual size to avoid distorting the size of the templates.
