Hello Quilters, Margaret’s delicate silk collages are hung! We have ourselves a quilt show, and you are all invited to stop by and take in the beauty of this mesmerizing art quilt exhibit.

MARGARET ANDERSON Art Quilt Exhibit March 1 – 31, 2011 Stand still in the room for a moment and focus on one quilt. What do you see? The hand painted, silk pieces of Margaret’s collages seem to float and gently move. As in all abstract art, Margaret’s collages will carry you to a place filled with imaginary images or stir your emotions or perhaps trigger an old memory. As we hung one quilt this week, I suddenly remembered the ice cream truck pulling up front when I was a child and then holding a Big Stick popsicle in my hand. In my mind I could see all of its rainbow colors again and taste the coolness of it as it slowly melted in my hand. The power of art! I hope you can experience these art pieces for yourself and see where her works lead you.

You’ll find the Guild’s boutique on the back patio full of beautiful items and quilts for sale. Be sure to check out their demonstrations going on throughout the day. The Guild’s opportunity quilt, “Sedona in Bloom,” designed by member Karin Scanlon, is a colorful interpretation of the southwest in springtime. Raffle tickets can be purchased here at the Store until the drawing. While the Guild puts on their activities outside, inside the Store you’ll find a spring sale, more demonstrations, door prize drawings and a free fat quarter gift for every quilter. Expect an all-round festive day celebrating the season and the camaraderie of quilters.

“A Quilter’s Journey” Quilt Show by EUNICE HILL April 5 through May 1, 2011 Eunice’s original designs will take you on a journey of people and places. Her bag of techniques keeps the viewer wondering, “How did she do that?” You look at some quilts and subtly see paper-piecing in the sky or in the landscape’s foreground. And, how does she get that stained-glass look or depth of perspective? Eunice comes to us with credentials, and we are honored to have her share her work with all of us. Eunice is a quilt pattern designer, educator, and AQS certified quilt appraiser. She is the recipient of state and national awards and was the 2004 Minnesota Quilter of the Year.
