Foundations:
This activity promotes development of fine motor, cognitive and language skills. Children manipulate objects using fingers and wrists of both hands together to attach the clothespins to the plates and develop eye-hand coordination as well. They match the colors of the dots with the clothespins and talk about the colors of the food the Very Hungry Caterpillar eats. This, on the other hand, develops symbolic thinking – the colored dots represent the different food the Caterpillar likes to eat. #33 Fine Motor #34 Eye-hand coordination #28 Number #29 Classification and matching #19 Recognition of symbols #14 Language comprehension #16 Communication of needs, feelings and interests #18 Interest in literacy Motor Development Fine motor skills, Eye-hand coordination Cognitive Development Number Sense, Classification Language Development Receptive language, Expressive language, Interest in Print
