May 22nd, WELCOME! You have taken the first step to becoming an SVU Travel Player by trying out for the 2013-2014 travel teams this Spring. SVU strives to be the "Preferred Soccer Organization of the Shenandoah Valley". Please carefully review the information in this packet. All travel teams require a commitment from both the player and family. Our programs also require high standards of behavior by all participants. The SVU travel program provides a step up in training, competition, and expectations from the recreation level. In this phase of club programming, all coaches are certified by either the US Soccer federation (USSF) or National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and players are asked to make an increased time commitment to learn the game. SVU travel players train at least twice per week, play weekend matches, and attend at least two out-of-town tournaments per season. The goal of the travel program is to enhance skill development, competitiveness, and team tactics through a higher level of play for players who are looking to take their game to the next level. PLEASE NOTE: Team selection will be posted on May 26th at approximately 9:00pm. If you are selected for a SVU Travel team, acceptance will need to be made by Tuesday 28th by 9:00pm. If you have any concerns or you find you are unable to meet the program obligations, please contact SVU Director of Coaching at

Playing Time and Complaint Procedure In travel soccer, playing time is earned rather than guaranteed. If, as a parent, you are not satisfied with the playing time your child is receiving, the first action you should take is to contact the coach of your child’s team.
Please note: SVU upholds a 24 hour policy that no complaint in regards to playing time, coaching decision or game management be communicated to the coaching staff, on the field, via phone call and written communication until 24 hours after the game. If you still feel strongly about the issue, please feel free to communicate these concerns with the coaching staff at that point. In general, all problems should be dealt with at the team level first. The proper procedure for all issues or complaints should be: Team Coach >>>>Director of Coaching >>>>VP of Competitive Program.
