Chef Isadora Chai Chef/Owner Bistro à Table and Antara Restaurant What is your all-time favourite dish? I am a purist in the sense that I just love sinking my teeth into a good piece of steak, so it would definitely be a Japanese Kobe zabuton cut, thrown on the grill and served with some good quality sea salt. What is your favourite restaurant? Asador Extebarri in Bilbao, Spain, where a smokehouse churns out the most heavenly goat’s milk butter. Its grilled gambas meanwhile, are juicy and explode in your mouth, giving you oral pleasure that you never thought you’d yearn for.
What is your all-time favourite dish? It’s got to be the Thai dish, gaeng panang gai (Panang chicken curry). I eat a lot of Thai food as my wife is Thai and she cooks some great dishes. Whenever we go to a Thai restaurant, it is the first thing I look for on the menu. Tell us about your most memorable dining experience. Not too long ago, I randomly jumped on a plane to Tokyo to satisfy my ramen cravings. For the following 36 sleepless hours, I had shoyu ramen in Shinjuku, miso ramen in Shibuya and chicken ramen in Ginza, before heading back to Kuala Lumpur.

There are so many wonderful experiences but if I had to choose one, it would be at a friend’s Italian restaurant in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Al fresco dining underneath the beautiful full moon with gorgeous truffle pappardelle, excellent service, Chianti and the perfect company – my wife.
I was fortunate to dine in this restaurant for my birthday with my wife when I lived in Dubai and it was like walking into a James Bond movie, with its huge aquarium. And as you would expect, exceptional quality of food and impeccably polished service await guests – a totally awesome dining experience!
What is your favourite restaurant? My favourite restaurant has to be Yauatcha in Soho, London. It’s a Michelin-star Chinese dim sum restaurant with a tea house and patisserie. It serves the best dim sum I’ve eaten and the pastries and chocolates are top class. Every time I go home, I always make it a point to go there. Tell us about your most memorable dining experience. The Al Mahara Restaurant in Burj Al Arab, Dubai. It’s such a jaw-dropping hotel! More on this restaurant, visit MalaysiaTatler.com
