Mentoring Program
BUMC CONFIRMATION MENTORING PROGRAM 2018 The confirmation mentoring program is for both 7th & 8th grade students. The 7th grade students select an adult mentor from within their family and complete the book, Confirmation Journey, For Youth & Parents. It is 8 sessions from Sept-April. 8th grade students select mentors from within the church community, unrelated. The 8th grade book is entitled, Confirmation Journey, For Mentors & Youth. It is also 8 sessions from Sept – April. Mentoring is a personal process. Therefore, the choice of a mentor is dependent on youth and parents. If you need assistance in selecting a mentor, please contact me as soon as possible. There are several members willing to serve and I’d be happy to help pair you with the perfect mentor.
MENTOR EVENTS The goal is for youth and mentors to meet monthly. Meetings should be arranged by youth and mentor, approved by a parent and held in a public place, church, library, or restaurant. We will have 3 visits to churches of a different faith or Christian denomination. We will also have 4 mentor breakfasts that will be held at approx. 9:00 before a church visit or BUMC church service.
IMPORTANT: Mentor selections should be made and confirmed by Sunday, Sept 24 which is the 1st Mentor Breakfast, 9:00AM Fellowship Hall
