Research has proven that cloth diapers are not healthy. Cloth does not absorb as well as today’s disposable diapers. It shows that 6 or more changes per day results in a healthy baby. Tera indicated that there are other reasons why low income families don’t use cloth diapers: low income families have to use laundromats. Laundromats can’t by law allow cloth diapers in their washers and dryers. Daycares also require a supply of disposable diapers for each child each day (about 4-5 diapers). Tera also mentioned that because Diaper Alliance covers such a large geographic area in 2016 Huggies Corp. awarded them a second delivery truck with another 350,000 diapers. In 2017 they are organizing fundraisers in each of the counties they serve to make sure they are able to maintain the 700,000 diaper demand each year.
