In Memory of The Rev. Joan LaLiberte 11/12/2014 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a dear friend, colleague, mentor, and spiritual director. The Rev. Mother Joan LaLiberte, Priest in Charge at St. Mark’s Tonopah, died on November 12, 2014. Joan was a passenger in a vehicle taking senior citizens to Reno for medical appointments. In the past few years, Mother Joan, as she was affectionately called by many, served St. Mark’s faithfully and generally without compensation, sometimes paying church bills out of her own small retirement income. Joan loved God, people, and dogs. She could readily and authentically place life issues in the larger context of her Christian faith. Joan was honored for her Evangelism Outreach at the Nevada General Convention in Ely this past October. She laughed off the radio ads which were reminiscent of Tom Bodet’s Motel 6 “we’ll leave the light on”. Her candor and humor made you want to hear the Word behind the voice. Donations to The Hope Floats Animal Foundation may be made in Joan’s memory. Hope Floats Animal Foundation, PO Box 191, Tonopah, NV 89049
