There, he was responsible for technical training, scouting, defensive systems and recruiting. Prior to his stint with the Tommies, he enjoyed eight seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Minnesota. From 1996 to 2003, he helped lead the Gophers to seven NCAA tournament appearances, five Sweet 16 appearances, one regional and Big Ten title and an appearance in the Final Four. Amundson has been involved with club volleyball programs in the upper Midwest since 1987, guiding the Mosquito Coast Junior Olympic team during that time.
