Fourteen Ink National Letters of Intent to Join MSU Football Program Recruiting Class Features 2011 WFCA Offensive Player of the Year

Mankato, Minn.  --- Minnesota State football coach Todd Hoffner has announced the signings of 14 prep athletes to National Letters of Intent to join the Maverick football program this upcoming fall. Additionally, three student-athletes will join the Maverick football program as recruited walk-ons. All signings are contingent upon admission to MSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Clearinghouse. This year's class features eight student-athletes from Wisconsin, three from Illinois and two from Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska. "It is an honor and a pleasure to announce the signing class of 2012," said Hoffner. "This group of young men are all great leaders, students and athletes in their own right. They have also represented their high school in an honorable and classy way. This class represents the five states that we concentrate our recruiting efforts as we move forward with our program." Included in the recruiting class is Neico Stokke, a 6-1, 190-pound quarterback from Menomonie, Wis. Last season, Stokke was named the Offensive Player of the Year by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association after he completed 141-of-226 passes for 2,399 yards and 23 touchdowns. Additionally, Suamico, Wis., native Luke Wendricks will join his brother Caleb on the MSU roster. The duo will represent MSU's only set of brothers on the roster and the first set of brothers since Austin and Logan Schachtner played together in 2010. Minnesota State finished the 2011 season with a 9-3 record and earned a share of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship. Additionally, the Mavericks won the NSIC South Division for the third time in fourth years and won the Mineral Water Bowl with a 28-14 victory over Northeastern State University. Bios on each player can be found on the following pages. --Continued-2012 Football • PaGE 1
