Miss Texas Stampede Report March was quite a month for me! I competed for Miss Rodeo Austin and won, but what made it extra special was that my younger sister, Grace, got to crown me. She won the title of Miss Rodeo Austin in 2010 and with hard work, an amazing mother, and great judges, we were able to keep the Miss Rodeo Austin title in the family for one more year! It is very rare for a sister to crown a sister, but even more so when the little sister gets to crown the big sister! Kind of backwards from what you might think, but it was a sweet sister moment that I will cherish forever. Rodeo Austin has blessed me beyond just a $15,000 scholarship, but they raised all the Grand Champion winners at Rodeo Austin by $1,000 which raised my scholarship to $16,000! I am so blessed to be able to participate in rodeo queen pageants because the scholarship is such a huge help in paying for school. But what makes it even more valuable is that every scholarship I have received from past pageants all adds up and counts for school, no matter how big or small. Scholarships are such an awesome way to help pay for school while in it or paying off student loans later. Below are some pictures from the Miss Rodeo Austin Scholarship Pageant. This picture is with a boy that was participating in the children’s “Fun Run” also known as Rodeo Rumble. After all of the kids in the different divisions had finished competiting, all of the rodeo queen contestants freshened up and got ready to give our speeches on the outdoor stage.
After we finished the kids fun run, we got ready to give our speeches on the outdoor stage. My draw was 12th out of 12 for the whole competition.
This was the impromptu question portion where we were asked three different questions: rodeo, current event, and personality.
Waiting on my turn to do my horsemanship pattern. The horse that I rode, I have trained on for the past three years and have had her at school with me this past year to use her for the Tarleton State University Stock Horse Team.
This is most of the girls at the horsemanship competition; there were 12 girls total in the competition. To the right was my judged flag run.
After our personal interviews on Sunday morning, we went to the Bob Bullock Museum and took pictures out in front of the big star and also took pictures with the State Capital in the background. (I am the tallest girl with the big turquoise necklace)
Working on thank‐you notes while waiting on my turn to go into interview.
At Rodeo Austin I won the categories of Appearance and Personality. (Below in this picture, I am to the right of the center, to the left of the girl with the blue jeans)
My sister Grace, who was Miss Rodeo Austin 2010, crowned me this year. It was a special sister‐to‐sister moment that I will always cherish. What made this kind of humorous was the fact that the younger sister crowned the older sister! But at the same time, it made it an extra special moment. Thanks so much to Texas Stampede for letting me take the Miss Texas Stampede title as my title sponsor for this pageant! I really appreciate it so very much. See ya’ll down the trail!
