MISSIONS TRIP TO CHIANG RAI, THAILAND (6 to 10 September 2010) Reported by Rev Dennis Kwok This is the fourth year of the six-year training program at Bethel Development Center (BDC) in Chiang Rai for Lahu pastors and evangelists. It is part of the plan by Calvary Pandan B-P Church for BDC to work towards self-sufficiency and independence in six years. Truth BP Church is committed to taking care of the spiritual training of the Lahu leaders. Thus far, the Lord has enabled me to provide the spiritual training. In addition, since 2009, Truth Church has been covering each year’s training cost of about $2,000. I thank God that this financial support is yet another opportunity for Truth Church to be involved in the work. Upon our arrival at Chiang Rai International Airport, my family and I were warmly received by Elder Chalaw, Warunee (FEBC graduate), and Billy (a recent MDiv FEBC graduate). We reached BDC at Numlat village in less than 15 minutes. Elder Chalaw had arranged for the Lahu pastors and evangelists to come for the five days’ leadership training. BDC also provided accomodation for the pastors and evangelists who had traveled for many hours on different mode of transport (boat, motorcycle and foot) to attend these training sessions. This year, we have fewer pastors attending as there was, at the same time, a compulsory conference organized by the Christian Fellowship of Thailand (CFT). However, more parents of the BDC children came for the training program. All in all, a total of 38 attended. This year, I covered the topics “Pneumatology” and “Soteriology” in 15 lessons. There was a written exam at the end. Of the 38, only 14 of them “dared” to take the exam. Most of them did well. We pray that the knowledge they received will

help them to grow spiritually in their faith and to be better servants of God. There were evening services every night and the attendance was encouraging. The children came after school and some adults came after work. On the last night, we had the Lord’s Supper followed by a time of thanksgiving and testimony. Through their testimonies, I was greatly blessed to know they have benefited from the spiritual training and the exhortation from God’s Word. My family and I thank God for this blessed and fruitful trip. We came here to be a blessing. It turned out that we are being blessed. May you join with me in prayer that the Lord will continue to strengthen the Lahu leaders for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. And should the Lord move you to be involved in Chiang Rai missions, I invite you to co-labour together with me. You can pray, give and go. Will you? Amen. *******************************
