GAMESLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL Grindleford Grove, Gamesley, Glossop, SK13 6HW Tel: 01457 853721 [email protected] Headteacher: Mrs Deborah Meredith Monday 30th November 2015 Dear Parents and Carers, .Children in Need Thank you so much for your generous support of this event. The children looked amazing with their crazy hairstyles and we raised the fantastic total of £250. Check out the school website to see some photographs of a very special visitor who came into school to launch the event…. Key Stage 1 Nativity – Thursday 10th December – Birch, Hawthorn and Willow Classes Tickets are now available and entry is free. .A separate tickets request letter has been sent out and is also available on the newsletters section of the website. In order to safeguard the children, tickets will be released only to parents and carers of children taking part but there is no limit on numbers of tickets and we encourage you to bring as many people along as possible. However, please do not ask for more tickets than you will use and please also return any tickets should your plans change. We have decided that this year no young children or babies will be admitted to either performance. In previous years some children have been very noisy, spoiling the experience for these little Year 1 and 2 children who have worked so hard on their performances and making it impossible for their parents to hear them speak their lines. Older children (Year 7 and above) may come to the evening performance as long as they have a ticket and are accompanied by (and sit with) an adult. Gamesley Primary School children will not be admitted to the evening performance due to lack of space. They will have already watched the Nativity in school. Reception Christmas Sing -Along Assembly – Acorn and Catkin Classes – Thursday 17th December – 9.15am We have decided that tickets are not needed for this event and entry is free. As this is a singing assembly with no long speaking parts, young children are welcome to come along and join in the fun if you think they will be able to sit quietly for about 30 minutes. Christmas Fair – Friday 4th December – 6.00pm to 8.00pm The children are invited to “wear something Christmassy” to school on Friday. This could be a Christmas jumper, tinsel or a festive hat. Just one festive item please….all other clothes should be school uniform! In exchange we would welcome donations of bottles (including alcohol!) for the Christmas Fayre Tombola. If you would like to volunteer to help at the Fayre in any way, please ring Debbie Lees on 07949 516479

Choir and Brass Band Congratulations and thank you to our fantastic choir and band who performed so wonderfully at the market last Thursday. They made us very proud. Key Stage 2 Enrichment Activities for Spring Terms 3 and 4 2016 Easter is early in 2016 and we are only in school for just over ten weeks before school closes for the Easter break on Thursday 24th March. Peak Active Sport will begin on Friday 8th January 2016 and booking forms will come home this week. School is closed to children on Friday 8th January as this is an INSET day, but the club will run on this day in order to complete ten sessions in the term. All other clubs will start on Monday 11th January and finish on Thursday 24th March. A letter with details of Spring Term Clubs will be sent home with Key Stage 2 children before the end of term. Early Birds and Night Owls Our wrap around care is proving to be very popular so please make sure you book places well in advance. Booking forms are available from the school office and also in the “Parents Information” section of the school website. From Monday 14th December all payments for before and after school care will be made on the day. Children attending Early Birds should bring a pound with them each morning. Parents will be required to pay for each Night Owls session when they collect their children. Christmas Discos – Thursday 17th December Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 - 4.30pm to 5.30pm Years 3 to 6 – 6.00pm to 7.00pm Entry to the discos on Thursday 17th December is just £2.00 (payable on the door – no advance tickets this time!) to cover the cost of entry, hot dogs, cakes, drinks and face painting. Children in Night Owls can bring a change of clothes to school. If you would like to volunteer to help at either of the discos (especially with face painting!!) please ring Debbie Lees on 07949 516479 Attendance Awards Our bronze, silver and gold “100%” badges continue to be very popular. We will be introducing a “Ten Full Weeks” award in January in addition to the 100% badges. The children will earn a sticker each time they achieve a full week in school. Ten stickers will mean they will be awarded a badge to wear on their jumpers plus a book token to “spend” in the Friday bookshop. Kindest Regards,

Deborah Meredith
