Students drop off gear at the blacktop near the GYM and wait for attendance to be completed Chaperones park on blacktop under basketball hoops

Students released to chaperones by car group Chaperones make sure students have: 1. Overnight bag of clothing (may be placed in any vehicle) 2. Sleeping bag (may be placed in any vehicle) 3. Bag Lunch (may be in a day pack) 4. Water bottle

Leave for the National Steinbeck Center o 1 S Main St, Salinas, CA

Park at the City Parking Garage – walk to Steinbeck Center Wait out front while Mr. Thomas collects entry tickets Enter the Center and go to the Courtyard in back Students will spread out and eat lunch on the concrete Mr. Thomas will hand Chaperones Ziploc bags with activity booklets, pencils and pens.
Tour of the Steinbeck Center begins Students will receive their activity booklet from Chaperones and have six pages of questions and reflections to complete Please encourage students to read the information for each exhibit and watch the movie. Filling out the booklet is not a race – students will have to be encouraged to notice everything Chaperones will collect activity booklets before leaving
Drive to the Santa Cruz KOA 1186 San Andreas Road, Watsonville, CA 95076
Park in the lot by the office or head to your Kabin. Mr. Thomas will check in and retrieve Kabin keys REMEMBER – students are not allowed into the general store at ay time
Unload gear into cabins Head to Sand Dollar Beach – NO WATER ENTRY AT ALL Use restrooms and fill water bottles before leaving
Dinner Crew returns to the KOA Sand Shack to prepare dinner (See meal prep groups)

Leave for the Ghirardelli Chocolate and Ice Cream shop at Cannery Row Steinbeck Plaza 660 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940 We have 1½ hours to enjoy the shop all to ourselves – it will take a while to get 100 orders of treats Restroom are at the Steinbeck Plaza – we’ll need to send students in small groups with an adult… it’s a bit of a journey A teacher or three will be roaming about the center outside to make sure students are safe and respectful.
